Grow Green Together Symposium

Northamptonshire ACRE, in partnership with Climate Action West Northants and the University of Northampton, is calling on community groups, parish and town councils, village halls and Northamptonshire businesses to come together to make their community a greener place.

On Monday 12th September 10am-4pm at the Hunsbury Hill Centre, Northampton, the Grow Green Together symposium is taking place. this is an event designed to inspire groups, help them connect and craft a greener, more sustainable future together.

So, why is this event so important?

Climate change and nature depletion are happening now, in the UK and across the world, and many people are increasingly concerned about what the future will look like. Some communities are already doing fantastic work in implementing green projects to help lessen their impact on the climate, but others are finding it rather overwhelming and difficult to know where to start. But it is important to recognise that we can all make a real difference and that working together amplifies our individual efforts.

This symposium will highlight the brilliant environmental work already being done in Northamptonshire – and inspiring guest speakers, including writer and environmental campaigner Dr Mark Avery, Dr Janet Jackson, Senior Lecturer in Environmental Ecology at the University of Northampton and Russell Horsey, Woodland Dwelling, passionate urban forester, will be covering a range of eco topics on the day including how you can improve the biodiversity of your area, rewilding and sustainable food networks.

Members of West and North Northants Unitary Authorities will also be on a panel discussing their work on lessening climate change and how communities can engage with them to help achieve their targets.

As well as speakers, Q&A sessions and breakout groups, community groups will be showcasing their own green, environmental projects.  At the end of the day, attendees will be asked to make at least one green pledge, either for themselves or their community, that they would like to achieve over the coming months.

Tickets are £25 each (which includes lunch and refreshments provided by Fruitful Abundance).
